What is the heating efficiency?
-It will be designed to meet your needs, case by case. Notice, that if you use radiant heating where elements are located into optimal places, you might need remarkably less heat to feel good than in conventional systems. Standard elements give typically appr. 20 W – 100 W each, and 80-600 W per square meter.

Does it run with a standard car battery and alternator?
-In most cases, yes. Limiting heating temporarily when there is lack of electric power available, helps in critical cases. In our test car, a minivan, 800 W heating is successfully fed by a standard electric system.

How much power it takes?
-It depends on your needs. We recommend current draw under 10 Amps.

How high are max temperatures with Flex-EL?
-Normal temperature for heating interiors require 30-50 C. The Flex-EL itself can bear over 100 C temperature.

What material is a Flex-EL element made from?
-It is a durable multi-layer laminate, typically consisting two polyurethane and one aluminium layer.

Where can I place a Flex-EL element?
-Typically it is placed under a certain covering, a mat on floor or in a wall, or behind an upholstery. Your imagination is perhaps the biggest challenge to find a way to use the Flex-EL.

Is it controlled by an on/off switch or by a thermostat?
-Both are possible. Even if the application is well designed, you might not need any excess devices to keep the right temp.

How long is a life span for a Flex –EL element?
-In normal conditions it lasts for decades. For very aggressive environment we check it together with the customer and material experts.

Is there a risk for an electric shock when using Flex-EL?
-Using low voltage makes the Flex-EL safe against electric shocks.

Can the Flex-EL system be plugged into a cigarette lighter plug in a car?
-To certain level, yes. Plugs are unfortunately originally designed to feed a lighter only with very low current level and they can´t give out much power. It´s better to use a relay and reliable lead set.

How long warranty does a Flex-EL system have?
-Limited warranty for fixed assemblies is 2 years, for other applications 1 year, covering material and manufacturing failures. In special use there can be other limitations for manufacturer´s liabilities.

Where can I buy a Flew-EL heating system?
-See our website “Contacts” to see your area distributor or ask us, info@taipaleautomotive.com.

Who are the references for a Flex-EL heating?
-Eg. our bus and coach customers all over the world; Volvo Bus, Scania, Evobus (Mercedes), Irisbus (Iveco), Lahti, Säffle, Omni,…

Can the Flex-EL be used in wet conditions?
-Basically, yes. Let us to check your application together with you if you like to use it under water or in another liquid, or in aggressive environment.
